The one between Marine Serre, stylist of her namesake brand that leans towards eco-futurism and Tim Blanks, general editor of ‘BOF’ (The Business of Fashion), was a very pleasant call for simplicity and honesty in the fashion world.

“Starting from ‘Core‘ to finish at the ‘Metaverse‘, we have the opportunity to learn about Marine Serre’s perspective and her utopian expectations for our future.” says Tim Blanks “it is always encouraging to hear about young designers who take conscious measures to reduce their significant negative impact and their carbon footprints on the earth, even more encouraging and positive is when ethics are accompanied by facts”; this is the case of Marine, which with its ‘CORE’ collection tells us about its design process and eco-awareness of the brand.

‘CORE’, is not a simple collection of prêt-à-porter, but a real MANIFESTO, accompanied by a documentary and a book that enrich the general ethics of the line, through which the designer and her team experiment , they dare and reuse existing fabrics creating new models.

Tim explains to us, in fact, how Serre promotes upcycling at the center of CORE, as a response to a world that has drastically changed with the arrival of Covid; during the Lockdown the designer managed to transform negative vibrations into doubts and questions, to which she answered very well, looking for alternative solutions.

“Collecting things that have no value, and then transforming them and making them useful again. This is also called SUSTAINABILITY, being able to capture and use the MULTIFUNCTIONALITY of an object, even the most absurd, in the best possible way, giving it a new history and restoring its charm” __ “Sometimes things go tremendously fast and we don’t have time to reflect and understand the importance of never losing the connection with people.” Creating real connections with people is one of the Goals that Marine and her team have set themselves, because after experiencing the first lockdown isolation they understood that there is a need to break down all the barriers between us humans.

This past year has been difficult for everyone, but there is no longer any question about it, things have to be done differently, and Marine Serre with her brand is succeeding.
