WHO IS WALTER CHIAPPONI? THE NEW BLUMARINE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Walter Chiapponi, former creative director of Tod’s, is now at the helm of the historic Blumarine brand, a brand born in 1977 from the creativity of Anna Molinari and until 2019 part of Blufin, the holding company of the founding family.

Milan, graduated from the European Institute of Design, he debuted in the world of fashion at the end of the 90s with Alessandro Dell’Acqua, then collaborated with some of the most important fashion brands such as Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu and Bottega Veneta strong>, together with Tomas Maier.
In 2019 he accepted the arduous challenge of managing the menswear and womenswear of Tod’s, starting a real climb to the success, not only personal, but also for the Italian brand.

“I am pleased to have been appointed Creative Director of an iconic Italian brand that has outlined over time a concept of femininity characterized by lightness and creativity” declared the designer via the press note spread by the brand “Being able to contribute to the construction of a new phase of Blumarine is for me the opportunity to embrace new, exciting and significant horizons, expand my vision and restore meaning to artistic expressiveness.”

The announcement of the change of chair, which had been anticipated by some rumors, will lead the young creative to give new energy to the brand which, already under the direction of Brognano, has been able to ride the wave of Y2K trend. In fact, thanks to an archive rich in iconographic references and the collaboration with the stylist Lotta Volkova, Blumarine has experienced a new moment of splendor.

Innovation and transformation are the new mission of Chiapponi, a difficult objective as at Tod’s in the past, but which have placed it among the great names of Made in Italy.
