CASSINA AND GINORI 1735 COLLABORATE FOR “LE MONDE DE CHARLOTTE PERRIAND” CAPSULE

Cassina continues the collaboration with Ginori 1735 and presents a refined porcelain plate service inspired by the photography of Charlotte Perriand.

The “Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand” capsule consists of a charger plate, a dinner plate, a soup plate and a dessert plate, presented in a set of two, with three different decorations that can be mixed or matched. To guarantee its authenticity, each object is branded with the Cassina and Ginori 1735 logos.

Photography as a source of inspiration, pioneer of modernity, architect, urban planner, designer and photographer, Charlotte Perriand is committed to defining a completely new art de vivre and in sharp contrast with the traditional codes of her era.

A great observer, Charlotte was fascinated by the world of nature: she collected many objects found during her travels, such as stones, roots, pieces of wood and fish bones, and observed their shapes, materials and geometries, using them as elements of inspiration planning.

Each hand-painted drawing from the “Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand” collection is a poem, inspired by nature.

The elements of nature photographed by Charlotte Perriand, however unrecognizable at first sight, awaken a series of associations that are recalled during the culinary experience. The contours of a snow plate in the cracks of a stone floor, photographed in the forest of Fontainebleau near Paris in 1934, evoke mythological animals, gorgons or carnival characters. Or the circular streaks of a cut tree trunk resemble the hallucinatory face of a lemur or the sensual mouth of an Indian goddess. A fishbone on a black background resembles a work tool of unknown use.

Charlotte Perriand, eclectic and visionary during her travels enriched her baggage with new techniques, for example in Japan she experimented with lacquering and ceramic processing techniques to renew traditions through the invention of new forms, proposing original ideas, such as decoration of the surface of objects with ropes, stones, bamboo and shells, or using contrasting films and etching techniques to integrate graphic motifs on the plates.
